Mercury Decontamination

It is important to decontaminate equipment or units free from mercury and benzene exposure prior mechanical activities. The monitoring of mercury vapor is conducted on each equipment or at various sensitive areas within the plant and the results are recorded.

If mercury levels exceed the Personnel Exposure Limit (PEL), mercury decontamination work will take place on that equipment or areas. When a safe exposure level is achieved, maintenance work can be performed.

During decontamination work, mercury vapor levels are continuously recorded until the desired level achieved (Hg < 0.025mg/m3).

MERCURE99 is an effective and fast reaction chemical used during plant decontamination.

Mercury 99

MERCURE99 was widely used for decontamination of vessels and equipment.

For process decontamination, MERCURE99 can be used with steam or water circulation or manual spray. However, for small equipment or affected parts can be done by spraying or soaking.

Personal Mercury Decontamination

Specially formulated BIOWASH70, is a chemical purposely to remove any traces of toxic mercury and hydrocarbon compound from the Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) such as chemical suit and safety rubber shoe and human body after execution of mercury decontamination.

BIOWASH70 is typically applied neat and recommended to use by spraying towards the PPE or human body. Then, sprayed PPE and human body must be rinse with plenty of water.
